    Penentuan Aktivitas Antioksidan Dan Kandungan Fenol Totalekstrak Daun Gendola (Basella Rubra Linn) Dan Daun Binahong (Anredera Cordifolia Stennis) Sebagai Kandidat Obat Herbal

    - Gendola (Basella rubra Linn) and Binahong (Anredera cardifolia) are medicinal plant. Gendola and Binahong leaves widely used as traditional medicine for Indonesian people.The objectives of this research were to examine the antioxidant activity and the total phenols content of Gendola leaf and Binahong leaf ethanolic extract. The antioxidant activity was measured by UV-Vis Spectrophotometer at 517 nm using 1-difenil-2pikril hidrazil hydrat (DPPH) as free radical. The total phenols content were measured by spectrophotometer at 360 nm. The result showed that IC50 value of ethanolic extract of Gendola leaf 84,70 ppm, and Binahong leaf 180,16 ppm. The total phenols content of ethanolic extract of Gendola leaf is 0,88%, and than ethanolic extract of Binahong leaf 0,54%

    ANALISIS POTENSI SENYAWA REPENSOL SEBAGAI KANDIDAT INHIBITOR

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis potensi senyawa repensol dalam menginhibisi replikasi virus hepatitis B (HBV) melalui pendekatan in silico dengan menggunakan perangkat komputasi dan perangkat lunak (software). Analisis dilakukan dengan metode simulasi penambatan molekular (Molecular Docking Simulation) yang menggunakan software PyRx, serta divisualisasikan dengan PyMol dan Discovery Studio. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu struktur senyawa repensol, protein target berupa protein kapsid HBV, dan ligan referensi berupa 4-methyl heteroaryldihydropyrimidine (4-metil HAP) yang dikoleksi dari database PubChem dan PDB. Hasil docking menunjukkan bahwa ikatan yang terbentuk antara senyawa repensol dengan protein kapsid HBV memiliki nilai binding affinity lebih rendah dari ligan referensi, yaitu -7.0 kkal/mol. Visualisasi menunjukkan senyawa repensol membentuk binding site yang sesuai dengan ligan referensi dan melibatkan 13 residu asam amino dari protein kapsid HBV, yaitu PRO D:138, ILE D:139, SER D:141, PHE D:110, THR D:109, LEU D:37, THR D:33, ILE D:105, PRO D:25, TYR D;118, TRP D:102, LEU D:140, dan PHE D:23.     The Role of Sechium edule Fruits Ethanolic Extract in Insulin Production and Malondialdehyde Level in Stz-Induced Diabetic Rat

    The objectives of this research were to examine the effect of Sechium edule ethanolic extract in insulin and Malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic rats. Type 1 diabetic rat were obtained by intraperitonially injected with multiple low dose STZ (MLD-STZ) 20 mg/kgBW for 5 days. The animals were divided into 5 groups: untreated rats in group (K) were considered as negative control, MLD-STZ induced type 1 diabetic rats in group (S) were considered as positive control. In another 3 group (A, B, C) type 1 diabetic rats were orally treated with three doses of S. edule ethanolic extract (14, 28, 42 mg/kg BW) for 7 days. The animals were sacrificed in two days after last treatment, serum were collected for measuring of the insulin concentration by ELISA method. Level of MDA on kidney, liver and pancreas were measured by TBA method. The treatment with S. edule ethanolic extracts unable to increase of insulin yet but the treatment with 42 mg/kg BW of S. edule ethanolic extract showed significantly decreased MDA levels on liver but not significant on kidney and pancreas

    MICROBIOLOGICAL QUALITY OF CAYENNE PEPPER (Capsicum frutescens L.) IN MALANG TRADITIONAL MARKET

    Cayenne pepper is consumed as a food spice because of its color, spicy taste, aroma and complete nutritional value. Cayenne pepper sold in traditional markets is not separated between whole cayenne pepper and broken cayenne pepper. This study aims to: 1) calculate the ALT of mold colonies on whole and damaged cayenne peppers, 2) identify contaminant mold species found in intact and damaged cayenne peppers. Samples of whole cayenne pepper and damaged cayenne pepper were isolated by grinding 10 grams of cayenne pepper, it was then inoculated on Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) medium and incubated at 25oC for 7 x 24 hours. Then the ALT of mold colonies was calculated on whole and damaged cayenne pepper. Then, each isolated mold contaminating colony's morphology and microscopic characteristics were described. Finally, each contaminant mold isolate was identified. Furthermore, the study unpacked that: 1) The ALT of contaminant mold colonies on whole cayenne pepper was 1.0x103 colonies/g, while the average ALT of contaminant mold colonies on damaged cayenne pepper was 2.1x105 colonies/g, 2) There were 8 species of mold found in cayenne pepper namely Mucor racemosus Fres, Aspergillus niger van Tieghem, Penicillium griseofulvum Dierckx, Penicillium frequentans Westing, Penicillium citrinum Thom, Penicillium nalgiovense Laxa, Penicillium digitatum Sacc and Penicillium variabile Sopp

    Penerapan Pembelajaran Reciprocal Teaching Berbantuan Peta Konsep untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa pada Pembelajaran Biologi

    This research aims to determine the influence of reciprocal teaching learning aided concept maps to students critical thinking skills in learning biology. The design of the study is a quasi-experimental design with research subjects in class X student of Agricultural Product Processing Technology (TPHP) and class X student of Fishery Products Processing Technology (TPHPi). Differences of the students critical thinking skills in the both class analyzed by using Anacova test. The results showed that there is an positive effect of reciprocal teaching learning aided concept maps to the critical thinking ability of students. The critical thinking of students' in the experimental class (average percentage of critical thinking skills of students 73,36%) was higher than the control group (average percentage of students' critical thinking skills 53,20%). From the results of the study it can be concluded that the application of reciprocal teaching learning aided concept maps can enhance students' critical thinking skills in learning biology.Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran reciprocal teaching berbantuan peta konsep terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada pembelajaran biologi. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah rancangan eksperimen semu dengan subjek penelitian siswa pada kelas X Teknologi Pengolahan Hasil Pertanian (TPHP) dan siswa kelas X Teknologi Pengolahan Hasil Perikanan (TPHPi). Perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada kedua kelas dianalisis menggunakan uji Anacova. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada pengaruh positif pembelajaran reciprocal teaching berbantuan peta konsep terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada kelas eksperimen (rata-rata persentase kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa 73,36%) lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol (rata-rata persentase kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa 53,20%). Dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran reciprocal teaching berbantuan peta konsep dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada pembelajaran Biologi

    PROFIL LITERASI SAINS MAHASISWA PGSD DI MALANG

    Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Teknik sampling digunakan adalah random sampling. Instrumen penilaian literasi sains diperoleh dengan tes pilihan ganda yang mengacu pada indikator literasi sains menurut Gormally (2012). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rerata literasi sains mahasiswa PGSD adalah 58,31% dengan kriteria cukup. Literasi sains mahasiswa PGSD pada indikator mengidentifikasi pendapat ilmiah yang valid memiliki rerata skor 41,05%, melakukan penelusuran literatur yang efektif 49, 14%, memahahami elemen-elemen desain penelitian dan bagaimana dampaknya terhadap temuan/kesimpulan 59,32%, membuat grafik secara tepat dari data 57,34%, memecahkan masalah menggunakan keterampilan kuantitatif 63, 22%, memahami dan menginterpretasikan statistik dasar 65, 04%, serta melakukan inferensi, prediksi dan penarikan kesimpulan berdasarkan data kuantitatif sebesar 73, 06%

    Collaborative mind mapping in RICOSRE learning model to improve students’ information literacy

    This research aimed to determine how the reading, identifying problem, constructing solution, solving problem, reviewing and extending problem solution (RICOSRE) learning model integration with collaborative mind mapping affects students’ information literacy in higher education institutions. This quasi-experimental study used a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. There were 40 multiple-choice questions selected to assess student information literacy. All instruments have been validated and are reliable. The data were collected from 100 participants who were college students enrolled in the environmental pollution course of the biology education degree program at Siliwangi University, Indonesia. To analyze the research data, analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used at a 5% level of significance, followed by the least significance difference (LSD) test. The ANCOVA results showed that the RICOSRE-CMM learning model impacted students’ information literacy. LSD scores were significantly different in terms of students’ information literacy. It can be concluded that the RICOSRE-CMM model could enhance each component of information literacy as these components have been integrated into the learning model syntax, which involves a series of information discovery and analysis processes during group work to find a solution to a problem

    Bioinformatics Approach Based Research of Profile Protein Carbonic Anhydrase II Analysis as a Potential Candidate Cause Autism for the Variation of Learning Subjects Biotechnology

    This study aims to determine the needs of learning variations on Biotechnology courses using bioinformatics approaches. One example of applied use of bioinformatics in biotechnology course is the analysis of protein profiles carbonic anhydrase II as a potential cause of autism candidate. This research is a qualitative descriptive study consisted of two phases. The first phase of the data obtained from observations of learning, student questionnaires, and questionnaires lecturer. Results from the first phase, namely the need for variations learning in Biotechnology course using bioinformatics. Collecting data on the second stage uses three webserver to predict the target protein and scientific articles. Visualization of proteins using PyMOL software. 3 based webserver which is used, the candidate of target proteins associated with autism is carbonic anhydrase II. The survey results revealed that the protein carbonic anhydrase II as a potential candidate for the cause of autism classified metaloenzim are able to bind with heavy metals. The content of heavy metals in autistic patients high that affect metabolism. This prediction of protein candidate cause autism is applied use to solve the problem in society, so that can achieve the learning outcome in biotechnology course

    Pengembangan Buku Ajar Perkembangan Hewan Berbasis Penelitian Metamorfosis Ulat Sutera Bombyx Mori L.

    The developed teaching material in this study is in the form of a research-based textbook on silkworm Bombyx mori L hormone. It was aimed to develop the textbook on animal development course that will be used as one of supplementary learning textbook for students of S1 Biology Department of State University of Jember. The development of this textbook deployed the Hannafin and Peck developmental model which consists of three phases: (1) Needs Assessment (Analysis Purposes Phase), (2) Design (Design Phase), and (3) Developing/ Implementing (Development and Implementation Phases). It is a developmental model of instructional design which is oriented to products. The data were obtained starting from the needs analysis, product design, product manufacturing, and product validation. The instrument used to collect the research data development used a questionnaire and interview guidelines. These data were analyzed descriptively. The results of the analysis showed that this textbook has met the eligibility requirements. The feasibility of a limited test of individual students was 94.7% which was obtained with a valid category, the test feasibility of media experts obtained by 93.35% with a valid category, and the test feasibility of material presentation of 98.89% with a valid category and appropriate to be used.Bahan ajar yang dikembangkan berupa buku ajar berbasis penelitian hormon ulat sutera Bombyx mori L. Pengembangan bahan ajar yang dilakukan bertujuan untuk menghasilkan buku ajar matakuliah perkembangan hewan yang akan digunakan sebagai salah satu sumber buku penunjang belajar bagi mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi S1 Universitas Negeri Jember. Pengembangan buku ajar ini menggunakan model pengembangan Hannafin dan Peck, yang terdiri atas 3 tahap yaitu (1) Need Assessment (Fase Analisis Keperluan), (2) Design (Fase Desain), dan (3) Develop/Implement (Fase Pengembangan dan Implementasi). Model pengembangan ini merupakan model desain pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada produk. Data diperoleh diawali dengan analisis kebutuhan, perancangan produk, pembuatan produk, dan validasi produk. Instrument yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data penelitian pengembangan menggunakan angket dan pedoman wawancara. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis menunjukkan buu ajar yang disusun telah memenuhi syarat kelayakan. Tingkat kelayakan uji terbatas perorangan mahasiswa diperoleh sebesar 94,7% dengan kategori valid, uji kelayakan dari ahli media diperoleh sebesar 93,35% dengan kategori valid, dan uji kelayakan sajian materi sebesar 98,89% dengan kategori valid dan layak untuk digunakan
